10 Weeks to Go!

I went in this morning for another check up and everything looked great. He is still measuring a few weeks big, but is heart rate is 145 and he is very active so there are no worries. Right now he is using my ribs as a trampoline. I can already tell this little one is going to be a pistol!

I did have one concern when I went in this morning. This may be telling on myself, but it is a lesson I have learned. Last night I was cooking dinner, (yes I know, how strange) and reached over the stove to get some seasoning for the green beans (these were for me, Trav still does not eat vegetables). Well as you know, my belly kinda just sticks out there and it happened to touch the edge of the frying pan. The HOT frying pan. I now have a beautiful burn scar right below my belly button. Oh my did it hurt and scare the crap out of me. You would think by now I would remember that the belly is in charge and I have to give it additional room, but this brain of mine is just not up to speed. When I showed the doctor this morning, she kinda laughed and reminded me that I had a belly and to look out for car doors and hot frying pans. I graciously smiled and said I know.

I am also meeting with the anesthesiologist on October 7th. I have 2 bulging disc in my lower back and the doctor said it would be best if I met with him before I went into labor to make sure an epidural would be an option. My next Doctor appointment is September 23. I am having another ultrasound to measure his growth. I had only gained 2 pounds from my last visit, so that is somewhat reassuring.

I still find it hard to believe that I only have 10 weeks left in this prenancy. I thank God everyday for keeping me and the baby healthy and pray that I will sleep a full nights sleep again. Oh how I miss my 8 hours.

Whew!!!

Well, I went in for my Glucose test at the hospital this morning. I got there at 6:45am. I wanted to get this thing over as soon as possible. This is the test where you have to fast (no eating, drinking, gum, Rolaids, NOTHING) from 8pm the night before. Do you know how hard that is for a 7 month pregnant person. I started my test at 6:55am and drank that NASTY sugar drink in 4 minutes flat. It wouldn't be so bad if you had a little food on your stomach or could wash it down with something, but NOOOOO they make you suffer. I had blood drawn at 8, 9, and 10am. I had to sit in the waiting room the whole time and could not leave. How boring was that. I did actually get a pillow and blanket and took a nap for a while. I believe that made me feel a little better. I had to wait for the test results and take them across the street to my doctor afterwards. Finally!! I PASSED. WOOOHOOOO. I was so worried. With this baby already weighing about a pound above average, I just knew I had gestational diabetes. How happy am I right now. I have my next Dr. appointment on September 9. It is just a quick check-up and then I have another growth ultrasound 2 weeks after that. Can y'all believe I only have 10 1/2 weeks left before this precious little one gets here. I can not wait. The first thing I want to do is sleep on my stomach. Oh, how I miss that so much.

How big is he????

Well, how big is he? How about 3lbs and 5ozs. Yep, my jaw dropped too! The average weight of a baby at this time is a little over 2 lbs. He is right at a good pound heavier. He was very active today, like most days and nights, and gave the lady doing the ultrasound a run for her money. She had a hard time getting his blood pressure and a steady heartbeat. Once she got it, it was 149 beats a minute.

I also had to take my Glucose test. Now that was NOT fun. You know, if you didn't have to drink that stuff in 5 minutes flat, it might not be so bad. Well, nevertheless, I failed the test. I have to go to baptist next Wednesday to take the 3 hour test, which really last around 5 hours. You can't leave or walk around or eat anything. This stuff is twice as sugary (is that a word) as the office test. I can only imagine how nasty that is going to be.

I also found out that he has tunred and is no longer in the breach (breech?) position. That relieves me! Hopefully he stays that way.

It is so hard to believe that I only have 12 weeks left till this boy graces us with his presence. Travis and I are SO excited. Last week we took infant and child CPR and Choking classes. It was very informative. We have childbirthing classes this weekend. We decided to take the weekend classes and not the 4 week ones. We go this Friday night for 3 hours and then on Saturday from 9-5. I am just a little nervous about it, but excited.

One last thought: GO GAMECOCKS!!! See ya'll at Williams Brice Thursday night! WooHoo!

How much stuff does a BABY need!!!!????

I need to give a very special thanks to my sister Missy and a dear friend Heather. I have finally finished my registry at Babies R Us. Not knowing what to get besides a car seat, stroller, pack n play and high chair, these two helped me tremendously. After Travis and I tried to do it, we realized we needed help and I called my sister. First mistake when we got there was giving her the scanner. She was too excited to trust her with the thing. We started with what Trav and I had already registered for and she showed me many more things I needed to add. Stuff that I wouldn't even think of like medicines. The most fun was picking out gowns but that seemed to be difficult because I just know I am going to have a 10lb baby and the 0-3 month is just going to be passed by. I really enjoyed spending this time with my sister. I know how excited she is about this baby. I just hope I get to hold him. Hahaha. Heather went with me another day. She is the breastfeeding expert. She has a 2 year old and twins that are 3 months old. She is a pro at it now. She showed me all the "life savers" in breastfeeding. What helped her the most and which brands she liked the best. One tip that I think I never would have realized was that about Butt Cream. If you look at the active ingredient in Destin, Destin Creamy, Bourdeaux butt cream and so on, you will see the percentage of the active ingredient is all different. On the Original Destin, the percentage is, I believe, 40% as opposed to the others at like 11%. See, these are things I just don't know about! Thanks Heather :)! I have my next appointment in one week, August 26th. I have to drink the sugar water and should be getting a growth ultrasound to see just how big this boy is getting. I'll keep you posted!

Baby Bedding Galore

Finally! We have decided on a bedding set. We started with the turtles, went to the airplanes and have settled on elephants. Trav and I rode up to Charlotte this morning to look at the Brady Airplane bedding at Pottery Barn, but they did not have any in the store. With as indecisive as I am, I really wanted to SEE the bedding before I bought it. We found Eli's Elephant at Pottery Barn and just loved it. We still have to get the valance and mobile, but we were able to get the bumper, ruffle, sham, quilt and rug. Here is what the bedding looks like.

AS soon as we decide what we are going to do with the walls, I will let everyone know. We have thought about stripes, polka dots, murals, but have not come up with a definite plan. Well, I am going to rest. Today has been a long day.

Belly pic

OK...So I have still not had any time to really get some good belly pics. I do have 1 that is decent.

It has just been so hot and I am starting to swell that every picture looks blah.

I also promised some pics of the baby room. They are not great but they may give an idea.

Ok, so not really. The other pics were a little to close up to see anything. We are going to Charlotte this weekend to look at bedding. Here is a pic of the Brady airplane at Pottery Barn that we like. If we get it, we are going to get Unkie Monkey to paint a plane on the wall with a banner behind it with the baby's name on it.

As for the baby himself, he is doing good. He has some very strong kicks that seem to find the bladder everytime at 2:00 in the morning. Yes, atleast 2 times a night I am up with him playing Kung Fu and using the bathroom. I don't mind. I love to feel him moving around in there. A lot of nights I lay in bed or on the couch and watch my belly. It is just so amazing. God truly has blessed me and Travis.

We have Furniture!!!

Friday and Saturday have been busy days. Friday after work we went to Baby Furniture Plus Kids. It is located on Decker Blvd. I forgot that it was even over there. I spotted a furniture set I liked in a magazine and Travis looked it up online to see who carried it. It led us to this store. This place is awesome. They had a few cribs I loved and their bedding was just too cute, but a little expensive. After over an hour of deliberating, we finally settled on this set. Well, atleast the crib. We got the 6 drawer dresser with hutch and the 5 drawer chest.

We still have not settled on a bedding set. We like the turtles but now we really like the Brady's Airplane set from Pottery Barn. I like the idea of painting an airplane on the wall with a banner flying behind it with the baby's name on it.

Travis got a taste of what all we are going to need when we have this baby. We went to Babies R Us and "started" our registry. After 2 hours of not knowing what we were doing, we decided we would finish another day and bring reinforcement (my sisterand friend Heather). I realized how much help we needed when we stood in front of the humidifiers and vaporizers trying to figure out which one we needed. I am hoping to finish it up sometime this week or next.

We are setting up the furniture today. We are missing the Chest. It is on order and should be here in 4 weeks. I will post a pic later today or tomorrow of the room once we get everyting put together and set up.
