The Nursery is Painted

What a relief. Friday night, after a long day at work and being out of town, my husband started working on painting the nursery. I kept my friend, Heather, twins Friday night and when I got home Travis was marking lines and getting ready to tape. I was able to help him with that and to get 2 coats of white paint on before we went to bed. Not too bad so far.

Saturday morning, we got up and started the real work. Having 4 colors of paint on the wall is not easy to handle. We got our first coats on and must say it looked good. By this time, my arms were ready to fall off. I am not good at cutting in paint, so Travis did all that while I rolled paint and brushed it.

By 6 o'clock I was starving and fortunatly we have awesome neighbors who invited us over for chili and hot dogs. Kate knows how much I love chili and I didn't even have to wash all the paint off of me before I went over there which was nice considering I didn't want to go out in public looking as beautiful as I did.

After diner, we took a break and went to mom and dads to watch the Carlolina football game. It was nice to sit and relax for a bit. I decided to leave at halftime, being that Carolina was playing an OK game. When I got home, I decided I would love to have the room finished before Travis got home. I literally finished 2 minutes before he walked in. He thought everything looked good and so we pulled the last of the paint tape off to see our finished product. Here you go:

All we have left to finish is a few decorations and for the little one to get here.

Paint

So we finally bought paint for the nursery. Here are the colors:

The first 2 are a little more green in person. We are going to do stripes horizontal around the wall. I am hoping to have this finished on Saturday maybe Sunday. Travis is going to have to do most of the work and he has been real busy lately. We shall see how much we get done. I will take some pics as soon as we get something up on the wall.

Linebacker

How do I start this entry. I am having a linebacker for Carolina. I went in Tuesday morning for my growth ultrasound and he is weighing in at a whopping 6lbs 5ozs. Yes, you can say it, Holy Crap! As a reminder, I still have 2, yes 2, more months until his due date. If he continues to gain weight at the rate he is gaining, he will weigh 12 lbs when he is born. The crazy thing is, I only gained 3 pounds from my last visit and it all went to him. I asked Carrie, my ultrasound tech, to please make sure that there were not 2 in there because to me and others, my stomach looks so big. She laughed and said there was only 1 and he was a big boy. I was able to get a few good picks of the little man.

He looks a little squished, but you can definatly tell he has Travis's lips.

He still keeps his hands up by his face when he is sleeping, just like his daddy.

I thought this pic of his foot was precious.

At one point we caught him sucking on his thumb. It was very sweet and made me cry. I cant wait to meet the little man. I feel like I know so much about him already. I guess carrying him around for 7 months will do that.

Big O'l Belly

Here are a few pics of just how big my belly is getting. These were taken at 29 weeks or 3 weeks ago.

I can not believe how big this baby is getting. Tuesday is my next growth ultrasound. We will find out how much he weighs. A month ago, he was 3 pounds. It will be real interesting to see what he is up to now.

10 Weeks to Go!

I went in this morning for another check up and everything looked great. He is still measuring a few weeks big, but is heart rate is 145 and he is very active so there are no worries. Right now he is using my ribs as a trampoline. I can already tell this little one is going to be a pistol!

I did have one concern when I went in this morning. This may be telling on myself, but it is a lesson I have learned. Last night I was cooking dinner, (yes I know, how strange) and reached over the stove to get some seasoning for the green beans (these were for me, Trav still does not eat vegetables). Well as you know, my belly kinda just sticks out there and it happened to touch the edge of the frying pan. The HOT frying pan. I now have a beautiful burn scar right below my belly button. Oh my did it hurt and scare the crap out of me. You would think by now I would remember that the belly is in charge and I have to give it additional room, but this brain of mine is just not up to speed. When I showed the doctor this morning, she kinda laughed and reminded me that I had a belly and to look out for car doors and hot frying pans. I graciously smiled and said I know.

I am also meeting with the anesthesiologist on October 7th. I have 2 bulging disc in my lower back and the doctor said it would be best if I met with him before I went into labor to make sure an epidural would be an option. My next Doctor appointment is September 23. I am having another ultrasound to measure his growth. I had only gained 2 pounds from my last visit, so that is somewhat reassuring.

I still find it hard to believe that I only have 10 weeks left in this prenancy. I thank God everyday for keeping me and the baby healthy and pray that I will sleep a full nights sleep again. Oh how I miss my 8 hours.

Whew!!!

Well, I went in for my Glucose test at the hospital this morning. I got there at 6:45am. I wanted to get this thing over as soon as possible. This is the test where you have to fast (no eating, drinking, gum, Rolaids, NOTHING) from 8pm the night before. Do you know how hard that is for a 7 month pregnant person. I started my test at 6:55am and drank that NASTY sugar drink in 4 minutes flat. It wouldn't be so bad if you had a little food on your stomach or could wash it down with something, but NOOOOO they make you suffer. I had blood drawn at 8, 9, and 10am. I had to sit in the waiting room the whole time and could not leave. How boring was that. I did actually get a pillow and blanket and took a nap for a while. I believe that made me feel a little better. I had to wait for the test results and take them across the street to my doctor afterwards. Finally!! I PASSED. WOOOHOOOO. I was so worried. With this baby already weighing about a pound above average, I just knew I had gestational diabetes. How happy am I right now. I have my next Dr. appointment on September 9. It is just a quick check-up and then I have another growth ultrasound 2 weeks after that. Can y'all believe I only have 10 1/2 weeks left before this precious little one gets here. I can not wait. The first thing I want to do is sleep on my stomach. Oh, how I miss that so much.
